Flint Basin, GA- Carol Letters reported for Tallahassee Democrat and Tallahassee.com about residents have high concerns of the declarations of fishery disaster and the on the Apalachicola Chattahochee Flint Basin. Governor Rick Scott discusses of the downturn of fresh water flow that making an impact on the is being held in Georgia from the Gulf Coast. Governor Scott joined three members of the U.S. Congressional Delegation with compliments of Apalachicola fish and hear the testimony's of the recent decline in fish harvest and to discuss possible solutions to solve the flint basin water flow on the Apalachicola Bay. Scott stated "They've kept our water. It has been going on for decades. Florida's going to file suit to make sure this stops." According to the USAToday reports, the Oyster harvests have declined by 60% in the last year, precipitating a 44% drop in revenue. The governor clearly stated that this is how residents provide for their families. Because the actions that Georgia's taken we negotiated with them they have not negotiated in good faith, we gotta take care of the initials that live in this community. " U.S. Representative Steve Southerland B. "You can see where Florida is doing a great job, Conservation. Our part. ....There is no substitute for flow. Conservation is going to be a huge part of the problem going forward." Scott continued to announce "We have the best horseshoes. The finest fisheries in the world." If we don't take care of this, who will?" The state of Florida will continue to fight for the fresh water flow for the seafood harvest to rise again. "This is not what they just done for their family, this is how they provide for their families now. This is not just part of their decisions, it's their livelihood.To see it impacted by man made decisions, decisions being made by man, not by nature not by another change in the economy but by another state, which is heartbreaking."
