New York, NY (CNN)- New York man dies after a chokehold from
police, after attempt arrest was made to charge the man of selling illegal
cigarettes. Locals were furious about the assault caused outrage. One of
the policeman grabbed the man after he surrendered and held him on his stomach.
Daniel Pantaleo, was stripped of his police privileges as he was seen
choking the man on the video. Authorities reported that the man stated "I
can't breathe, I can't breathe," as he was held against his will on the
concrete sidewalk. Mayor Bill de Blaiso saw the video and called it
"very troubling."
The chokehold tactic is
against NYPD law. Eric Garner, 43, was a 350 lbs. man and a father of
six. A chokehold with that amount of pressure and his weight could of caused
him to pass. There were four ambulances that arrived on the scene and a fire
department unit. Later announcements were 4 emergency workers are held
responsible for Garner's death and are in police custody. A rally was
held on Saturday with family and locals after lead by Al Sharpton, after
hearing the news on Garner's behalf. It is unsettling to see a young man leave
us this way, especially by a cop.
